Guess what's for lunch tomorrow?
Burgers for each member of my family and then a couple to spare the burger-loving male friend.
While busying myself with mixing up the burger meat, a friend messaged me to ask me out. Told him I couldn't make it as I was busy preparing tomorrow's meals, and then decided to taunt the fellow food lover.
Me: I'd offer you a home-made burger, but it's not halal.
Him: It's OK...
Me: (ignoring him) Well actually it's 2/3 not halal. I used a pork to beef ratio of 2:1.
Him: ...
Me: (still rambling on) But then after adding the eggs, breadcrumbs, herbs and seasoning, it's maybe only 1/2 not halal. How about that?
Him: ...
Top it off with blue cheese, wine-cooked onions, and some buttered buns and you've got you a literally heart-stopping meal. =)

Irene,
Halal or not, in my case it does not matter.
I could go off on a riff here, but that would serve no purpose.
Burgers are among my favorite foods and I enjoy grilling them!
I will have to try your recipe minus the blue cheese. I really do not like that cheese.
Carmelized onions in wine and maybe adding some banana peppers and they will still be yummy!
Thanks!
David
yeah well, in this country, many are muslims, and while many of my friends choose to be rather lax with following the requirements of the religion, there are others who do abide by it. i do try to take that into consideration, as a sign of respect.
however i'm sure you'll have no problem with that issue at all! i quite like burgers myself, but as i'm quite intolerant to greasy foods, this comes pretty much as a rare treat once in a blue moon.
do feel free to customise this to suit your tastes - i love adding a lot of cracked black pepper, some cayenne pepper, two cloves of mince garlic and a dash of dried basil to it for flavour.
well it's not for everyone but i LOVE how well blue cheese goes with pork! you can omit it, of course, of do what i did and just add a little on top. alternatively, you could grate it and add it into the burger meat itself =)
